2013 - 12th January - One Project A Month - October - Autumn Rag Quilt - part 3 - finished!

One Project A Month for October -

I've finally finished the rag quilt and I'm really pleased with it! ( photo above- before washing - photo below - after washing, click for larger picture)

This is the second time I've made a quilt, but it's my first large quilt (the first was a cot quilt and bumper set for my son and that was nearly 22 years ago!) This one has taken me about three weeks, doing a bit every day......

Once it is washed, the edges go a bit more all raggy but it looks lovely with the autumnal colours, every leaf has been appliqued on and every square is padded and then I had to snip all the edges, which took about two days altogether! There is just enough fabric left over to make a matching cushion from the same pattern. I'm really pleased because it's the first time I've made something from a pattern and the finished item actually looks like the picture!

and this is the back of the quilt - lovely flowery fabrics, perfect for spring and summer, so I've got a quilt that I can use all year round!
