Shoulder Bag no 3 and other stuff

The weather:
Well it snowed this weekend as predicted, so we stayed in, you've probably seen lots of 'snow' photo's by now so here is just one more...

Sewing : shoulder bag no 3

Because we stayed in, I managed to finish shoulder bag no 3, the cute kittens/teddy bear/bunny fabric, I only cut this out on friday so that's pretty good for me to finish it so quickly, especially with this pattern! But it was just such lovely fabric and I couldn't wait to see it finished! anyway here are some pics and it will be listed for sale on my website at the weekend when I've had chance to try and finish the other seven bags!
The cats:
Millie snuggled up next to me on the settee and later......both of them of our bed.

Bus Strike:
Day 8,9,10 and 11 this week, yes that's four days in one week, but it's not affecting hubby as he is off work with a trapped nerve in his neck/shoulder, still it won't make any difference money wise, sick pay or strike pay, it will still be low wages.

Edit: just been looking on the internet for the rate of stat sick pay : £81.60 a week but as it seems as hubby is on strike, we won't even get that!!

If you want to know whats going on you can read it here http://sheffieldswp.blogspot.com/2012/01/bus-drivers-fight-on.html

Earthquake !

27th Feb 2008

when I started this blog the other week, no way did I think I would be writing about an earthquake!

I had just gone to bed and was reading and started hearing a rumbling sound about 1.00am and the house shook, at first I thought some roof tiles were coming off because of the strong winds then I thought the chimney or roof was coming in or that there had been a gas explosion somewhere or a lorry has crashed, it felt very strange, it seemed to last about 10-20 seconds,I've never felt an earthquake before and I don't think I want to again.

It was a feeling did I imagine that? for a moment I just froze then I rushed downstairs as hubby was still up watching tv and the phone rang, it was my son who was staying at a friends house and they felt it there in Sheffield, they were listening to Hallam FM on the radio but there was not much on the television news so I logged on the internet and Sheffield Forum http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=312989 was very busy over 1,000 people online saying where they were and what they had felt , then Sky news website saying it was 5.3 on the richter scale and the epicentre was near the Market Rasen area.
By now it was breaking news on BBC 24 and they were saying it was a 4.7 earthquake.

the house where the chimney collapsed http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/7266492.stm is in Wombwell, near Banrsley.

Lucklily none of our pictures or furniture moved but hubby says the glass ornments were rattling! Oh and we have noticed a small hairlinecrack in the bedroom ceiling!

I was very shook up and we finally got to sleep at about 4am.
